A two-day NSCC pilot training program designed exclusively for women, focusing on the essentials of safe chainsaw use and handling. This program provides comprehensive safety training, proper equipment use, and risk assessment. Participants will gain first-hand experience in limbing and bucking under the guidance of certified trainers. The program aims to help women develop new skills and overcome challenges in a supportive environment.
Where: Gittens Lodge, 420 McLeod Rd, Manganese Mines (near Truro)
When: March 14 & 15 (8:30 AM to 4:00 PM)
Cost: $120 registration fee plus HST. This course is currently subsidized by forest sector partners and has a maximum capacity of 10 participants.
Important: Participants must have their own CSA-approved steel-toe boots. All other personal protective equipment (PPE), chainsaws, maintenance equipment, and fuels will be provided. If you have your own saw and PPE, we encourage you to bring them along. Using your own equipment during the course will help you feel more comfortable and confident when practicing your skills at home.
